Stearic acid, namely octadecanoic acid, molecular formula C18H36O2, is produced by hydrolysis of oils and fats and is mainly used to produce stearates. It is dissolved in 21ml of ethanol, 5ml of benzene, 2ml of chloroform or 6ml of carbon tetrachloride per gram.
It is a white or off-white slippery powder or crystalline hard lump with fine needle-like crystals with slight luster in its profile; it has a slight odor similar to grease and is tasteless. It is easily soluble in chloroform or ether, dissolved in ethanol and almost insoluble in water. Freezing point The freezing point of this product (Appendix VI D) is not less than 54℃. Iodine value The iodine value of this product (Appendix VII H) is not more than 4. Acid value The acid value of this product (Appendix VII H) is 203 ~ 210. Stearic acid reacts easily with magnesium and calcium ions to form magnesium stearate and calcium stearate (white precipitate)
1.200 type stearic acid is packed in cardboard box. 800 type stearic acid is packed in woven bag lined with plastic bag. Store in a cool and ventilated place.
2. This product can be packed in cardboard box or woven bag lined with plastic bag. The net weight of each box (bag) is 25kg or 50kg.
3. Store in a cool, dry and ventilated place, away from fire and oxidizing agents. Store and transport according to general chemical regulations.
